To explain my interpretation of the TN on page 22, the original example use of Ki was to focus your total energy into a single point (the finger) in order to cause massive damage to the target (statue).
Firo has ‘reversed it’ because she is instead targeted the energy around her and focused it into her (a single point).
TLDR: Originally, expelled energy into a point to cause destruction. Reversed, absorbed energy from around you into yourself.
